Room 55 Case 11
The Babylonian Chronicles
-
The Babylonian Chronicles are the records of the Babylonian kings who reigned after the Assyrians from 615 to 539B.C.
-
The Assyrian Empire collapses and the record of the Fall of Nineveh in 612 BC confirms the Babylonians’ victory. Nahum and Zephaniah predicted the fall of Nineveh and Jeremiah recorded it.
‘
Behold, I am against you, says Jehovah of Hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more.’ (Nahum 2:13).
‘And He will stretch out His hand against the north and destroy Assyria, and will make Nineveh a desert and dry like a desert.’ (Zephaniah 2:13).
‘Israel is a scattered sheep, driven away by lions. First the king of Assyria devoured him, and last this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon crunched his bones. So Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel, says this: Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.’ (Jeremiah 50:17-18).
