Assyria rose as a super power under aggressive expansion policies initiated by Tiglath-Pileser I (1115-1077 BC), one of the greatest Assyrian conquerors.

 

Named from their original capital of Aasur, in modern day Iraq, Assyria was a Semitic Akkadian Kingdom
